Embarking on the Reiki journey is embarking on a journey of self discovery, self healing and spiritual development, and sharing this with an individual is such a privilege. I offer courses at each level
- First degree – Shoden,
- Second Degree – Okuden,
- Master/Master Teacher Level – Shinpiden.
Becoming connected to Reiki empowers you in so many ways and brings about such positivity, calmness, serenity and more. It brings forth your light from within, and is the reason my business is called Light From Within.
Reiki First Degree – Shoden
Your Reiki First Degree training course is approximately 20 hours duration. You spend approximately nine hours working through a multimedia study pack, at your leisure, and then attend a single-day live course, and a follow-up half-day a few weeks later. During the live part of your training you will focus on practical energy work, guided by me alongside a few other students – there will be no more than four students on the course.
This approach provides you with a complete training in the basic Reiki technique. You can learn at your leisure, allowing all the information to sink in and allowing you to realise any questions that you might have, and you then arrive on the course well prepared and already knowing a great deal about Reiki at First Degree. Then we spend the live part of your course working with energy and putting what you have learned into practice.
The study pack consists of a detailed Manual, that covers everything that is taught on the day, (and more) and two audio CDs, one containing 70 minutes of commentary summarising the main themes of the course and the other containing guided meditations that you will be introduced to on your course and which you will use subsequently. This is an excellent resource for you to keep and refer to whenever needed.
Your pre-course reading and listening will focus on these areas:
- What Reiki is and where it comes from (the History, Background and Development)
- What Reiki’s founder taught and how we can follow the original system in the modern world
- The Reiki ‘precepts’, mindfulness, and the use of empowerments
- How to benefit from daily energy exercises and self-treatments
- How to use Reiki on other people
We will review this information briefly on the day of the course, but most of the training day concentrates on hands-on practice rather than theory.
During the morning of your course, you will go through 3 Reiju Empowerments that open up the channels through which Reiki flows and enable you to use Reiki for your own benefit and for the benefit of the people around you – your family and friends. This ability will stay with you for life, you will never lose it!
During the morning, you will start to work with your energy in different ways. You will learn to feel your own energy and you will practice feeling other people’s energy, and we will run through and practice some Japanese energy exercises that you can use every day to balance your energy system and to make you a stronger and clearer channel for Reiki.
Learn how to treat yourself
Reiki in its original form is much more about working on yourself than it is about working on other people, so you will learn several approaches that you can use to work on yourself, and the morning will end with you going through a traditional Japanese self-treatment ‘meditation’ and the Western approach to carrying out self-treatments.
In the afternoon, we will spend some time talking about how to give treatments to other people, and we will practice some ‘standard’ hand positions. Although it is good practice to work intuitively, and that will come with time, it is reassuring to begin with to have some basic guidelines to follow. We will also talk about balancing and energising the aura, and ‘scanning’ with your hands.
During the afternoon you will also pair up with another student, give a full Reiki treatment and receive a full Reiki treatment, with close guidance and support. This will show you what an amazing experience giving and receiving Reiki can be!
Ongoing support and advice
I provide on-going support following your First Degree course to deal with any questions or queries that you might have.
We will also have the half day review day when you will have chance to re-cap on any uncertainties, ask questions and give feedback on you experience so far. (Attending this day is optional, although recommended).
You will also have the option of attending the Reiki shares that I host on a monthly basis (attendance at the first two will be free of charge, £5 per Reiki share thereafter).
Certificate
On completion of the course you will receive a certificate confirming that you have received the necessary instruction and have satisfied the requirements for the “First Degree” of Reiki.
Course fee
£190 with an initial non-refundable deposit of £90 to reserve your place, and £100 on the day of the course (or transferred prior to the course if easier for you).

Reiki Second Degree – Okuden
This course is broken down into 2 parts:
- Working through study packs at home
- Attendance at a 1-day ‘live’ course.
You will receive 2 study packs, one at enrolment and one ten days later. Both packs consist of comprehensive course manuals and audio CDs consisting of Reiki meditations and of everything that will be covered on the course – which you keep to refer to when needed once the course is complete.
The first study pack (which takes up to 6 hours to complete) is the opportunity to go over what you were taught during your Reiki 1 training, and possibly new ways of working, following the traditional (Japanese) Usui Reiki as opposed to Western Style Reiki.
The second study pack (which takes approximately 9 hours to work through) is an introduction to Second Degree Reiki and this will focus you on these areas:
- What Reiki’s founder taught and how we can follow the original system in the modern world
- How to benefit from the energies of earth ki and heavenly ki through meditation
- The importance of experiencing a state of oneness and its use in distant healing
- How to use earth ki and heavenly ki when treating others
- How to open yourself to intuitive working
- Ways of directing the energy using intent
- The Reiki symbols: how to draw them and say their names
We will go over this information briefly on the day of the course, but most of the day will concentrate on practice rather than theory.
Training in this way, I believe is much more effective than trying to take in so much information during a 1-day course. Preparing in this way gives you the opportunity to get to grips with the ‘knowledge’ side of Reiki and then we can very much focus on the practical aspects on the day. It also gives you chance to experience things which you might then have questions about, that can be answered on the day.
The course very much reflects the original system that Reiki’s founder taught by still rooting your practice in personal energy work. Reiki is first and foremost about you, about your development and growth.
You will learn to enhance and deepen your self-healing by working with two important energies known as earth ki and heavenly ki in the original system. Meditating on earth ki and heavenly ki regularly will really help to advance your self-healing, and you will learn to use symbols to represent or access these important energies, or aspects of the energy.

I will be available by phone to support you both during and following completion of the course.
You will also have the option of attending the Reiki shares that I host on a monthly basis (attendance at the first two will be free of charge, £5 per Reiki share thereafter).

Reiki training For Children And Teenagers
Reiki is beautiful energy that is within us all and children easily learn how to use it. It empowers them to create or increase their self esteem, help remove or deal with anxiety, improve self confidence, and assist them with the challenges of growing up. The courses will increase belief in themselves and their ability to achieve their goals and dreams.
- The courses are available to children between the ages of 5-16 years.
- Groups are limited to a maximum of 4, so that each person receives the individual attention they need.
- Reiki First and Second Degree Courses are available.
- Each course is taught over 5 weeks, with weekly – 2 hour sessions.
When and where
The courses will be held at my home in Lower Feltham on Wednesday evenings 4.30-6.30pm. The first course begins on November 15th. You are welcome to apply.
Parents of small children are encouraged to stay.
I will guide all parents in ways to continue supporting your child’s Reiki practice at home.
I am also happy to provide 1:1 courses for your child(ren) and will try to accommodate days and times to suit you.
After taking this course your child will be able to practice Reiki on him or herself and also give Reiki to others.. to you, their siblings, their friends, their pets and even your plants.
